World Literature or English 10 places an emphasis cultures
and literature around the world in a classroom setting. Students will conduct
an analysis of texts from various genres and multicultural writers that
exemplifies those cultures. Critical analyses skills will be developed through
in-depth class discussions and writing about literature. Projects and writing
assignments will also be an essential part of our study of literature. Students
will develop a working knowledge of the standards set forth by the Modern
Language Association (MLA) for formal writing, including research and citation
skills. Students will be introduced to argumentative writing, to include
logical fallacies and argumentative techniques. The course will also
contain real-world connections that encourage the students to improve the world
around them as well as abroad.
